Terms of Service

Last updated 6 October 2026

These terms set out the deal between you and Lekhio when you use our service. By creating an account or using Lekhio, you agree to them. Please read them. We have kept them plain.

What Lekhio does

Lekhio keeps the books and prepares the tax for people running a business or letting property in the UK. You put your records in through the Lekhio app and the website: a photo or an upload of a receipt, a bank statement, an entry you type, or a payment your phone tells us about once you have switched that on. You can also send receipts and voice notes to our WhatsApp number. Nothing on that number replies on its own, so Lekhio tells you what it read in a notification and in the app instead. If you need a person, send the word SUPPORT there or email info@lekhio.app.

Lekhio prepares. You check it, you approve it, and you send it.

What Lekhio is not

Lekhio is a tool, not your accountant or tax agent. We prepare figures for you to check. You stay legally responsible for your tax and for what you submit to HMRC. We never submit anything on your behalf without your explicit approval, and we never claim that HMRC endorses Lekhio. If your affairs are complex, speak to a qualified accountant.

The part of Lekhio that would send an update to HMRC is not built yet. Until it is, Lekhio prepares the figures and you send them to HMRC through other software that can send them, or through an accountant, because HMRC does not provide software for Making Tax Digital.

Your data

Your data stays yours. We handle it as described in our Privacy Policy. You can export your records or ask us to delete your account at any time, subject to the record keeping rules that UK tax law places on both of us.

Approval before anything is sent

Any action that moves money, files tax, or sends a message on your behalf needs your explicit approval first. We build that approval step into the product. There are no exceptions.

An invoice you make in the app or on the website is yours to send. We do not send it to your customer for you.

Acceptable use

Use Lekhio for your own lawful business records. Do not use it to break the law, to mislead HMRC, or to upload content that is not yours to share. We may suspend accounts that are used in these ways.

Availability

We work hard to keep Lekhio running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or error free. We may update, pause, or change features as the product grows. Where a change is significant, we will tell you.

Our responsibility

We provide Lekhio with reasonable care and skill. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that we could not reasonably expect, or for tax decisions you make after reviewing your figures.

Where we are responsible, and as far as the law allows, the most we will pay you in total for everything that happens in any twelve month period is the greater of £250 or the amount you paid us in that period.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. That includes death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and, if you are a consumer, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If you are a consumer, nothing here affects your legal rights.

Ending your use

You can stop using Lekhio and close your account at any time. We may end your access if you break these terms. If we do, we will tell you why where we can.

Where our legal information comes from

We read the law at source. Statute from legislation.gov.uk, HMRC guidance from GOV.UK, and tribunal decisions as they are published, under the Open Government Licence unless stated otherwise. We prepare and you approve. We never tell you a court has decided something on our own say so.

Crown copyright material reproduced by permission of The National Archives. The contents of the judgment can be used under the Open Justice – Licence.

Court judgments and tribunal decisions published on Find Case Law only partially represent the activities of the courts and tribunals.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
