What if HMRC says no to an update?

HMRC keeps nothing from an update it says no to, so nothing is half sent. Read the reason, put right what it names, and you send it again.

The usual reasons

Not signed up. HMRC takes updates only from people signed up for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax. Check your sign up on GOV.UK.

Too early. HMRC takes an update only from 10 days before the quarter ends, and its answer says the first day it takes it.

The connection has run out. Software reaches your HMRC record with your permission, and that permission ends after a while. Connect again, then send.

No answer. When HMRC is busy or does not answer, nothing was sent. Try again a little later.

In Lekhio

Sending from Lekhio is not open yet. If you send through other software, its own screen shows HMRC's reason.

When the reason makes no sense

Email info@lekhio.app with what the screen said. A person at Lekhio replies within 5 working days.
